Who doesn’t love Mo Willems? I mean seriously, it has to be literally impossible to be a children’s librarian and not love Mo Willems, IMHO 🙂 Anyways, we have an all ages storytime on the weekends at my library. Sometimes it can be tricky to plan because you never know if you’re going to have babies, preschoolers, or school age kids show up. Highlighting a super star like Mo Willems felt like a safe bet!
Books Flannel I’ve found that hiding/guessing games are total crowd pleasers. One of my co-workers helped me to make this adorable felt pigeon (I just couldn’t make those tiny legs on my own!) After reading a pigeon story we played hide the pigeon behind the shapes and guessed where he was hiding. It was lots of fun! There was a family with a younger baby (about 6 or 7 months I’d say) who I swear shouted out “YELLOW” as a guess to where the pigeon was – and she was right! Her parents looked absolutely shocked and told me afterwards that this was the first clear word their baby had said. Storytime magic right there folks! There’s nothing like that to make you feel like you have the best job in the world! Seriously, Mo Willems is the best!
